Mark Vanilau has worked with New Zealand’s best - he’s a regular member of Dave Dobbyn’s band, he played on Hollie Smith’s album, performed with Rikki Gooch in Eru Dangerspiel and has been in bands with Ladi6 and Scribe. He is also part of a trio with Warren Maxwell and Louis Baker.
His debut EP, Dark Horizon, was Produced by Warren Maxwell (TrinityRoots/Little Bushman). The lead single Giant of the Sea took out Best Song at the Pacific Music Awards
Vanilau, a multi-instrumentalist with a smooth, velveteen voice, teamed with Maxwell and Louis Baker, for a series of live shows. Says Maxwell, “We wanted to collaborate with a focus on vocal harmony, reminiscent of Crosby, Stills & Nash but with contemporary elements and original songs from three Antipodean minstrels”.
