Bio

Formed in their current line-up in June/July of 2005 - the core of the band had begun many years early - three longtime friends: Adam (drums), Alex (rhythm guitar) and Michael (lead guitar) had been playing together for some time - members of various bands over the years. A chance meeting and Johan (vocals) (vocalist in another band) was drafted into the band as singer, fortunately his brother is an accomplished bass guitarist and the band soon had Arjan (bass guitar) in the line-up. They clicked as a band almost instantly and from there they greater things were to follow...

Although a they are somewhat of a 'new' band they have been into their music for more than half their lives, and since forming Vital Clue they have enjoyed a tremendous level of support. Success is starting to come simply due to the quality of their music.

It is almost cliche to say that they have their own style - they make no claims about the their style of music nor do they follow anything or anyone as they develop. Their influences are wide and varied and list bands such as Metallica, The D4 and Shihad (to name just a few) as having some impact on their development.

It was the 2005 World Battle of the Bands competition that saw them become even more serious about their craft. Despite being only together in their current form for less than 3 months they managed to win through the preliminaries, semis and regional finals to get through to the national finals (there were a total of 70 gigs and 149 bands competing in the competition) - their set was just 7 songs that they had written specially for the competition!

Although they did not win, the experience and level of support convinced them they had 'something'. Contacts have since been made (the guys from Chuganaut have been great), gigs have been booked and Vital Clue hasn't looked back since!

As yet unsigned, the band continues to hone their craft with gigs in front of some of the most discerning rock audiences in NZ.
