Tamaki Makaurau’s Theajsound drops his sentimental bop of a track, Promise., an ode to the beginning of a budding love.
Indo-Kiwi AJ, who is based in Tamaki Makaurau, co-wrote the lyrics for Promise. with Lochana Wijesundera with the intention of capturing the feeling of intensity one experiences when falling for someone.
"I always wanted to write a ballad that would work beautifully as a wedding song; just as much as one that would be a tear-jerker, while you're sipping on a coffee and reminiscing about a long, lost relationship.
“With Promise. I focused on the aspects of falling in love that I absolutely crave. I took experiences from my last relationship and remembered how hard and fast I fell. And on the other hand, I also took stock of how hard it has been to get over it. I used that to preserve the thread of sadness that runs through the love song” - Theajsound
Since 2012, AJ has been honing his craft as a musician after dating a pianist with a musically inclined family. But music has always run through his veins, with a guitarist father who encouraged his musical development. AJ took that and then went on to study with a theatrical and operatic vocal coach.
With four previously released singles, there is much more to come from this talented up-and-coming artist, with further releases planned for 2020.
