Capturing a nostalgia of sound that is unapologetically live & unforgiving, with a blatant sense of unadulterated musicianship. Lyrically Something Over Me weaves in and out of the premise that even when things aren’t going well, love remains.

From musicals, hosting TV shows and performing in bands and choirs, Russell Harrison has many gifts. Least of all that distinctive soulful voice and the way he effortlessly glides along melodies. Russell’s latest gift is for our listening pleasure, a 4-track EP called Something Over Me.
Also, the title track from his debut EP, Something Over Me is a hedonistic attempt at imagining what it would be like musically, to have Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and Tama Renata locked in a room together. For Russell, it embodies all of his romanticized memories of growing up in South Auckland in the late 70’s and holidaying in the Far North, garage parties, swimming holes and Old Pale Gold.
Socialized to the power of music by the icons of a forgotten time like Bunny Walters, Prince Tui Teka and Sir Howard Morrison, this old soul will take you on a trip back to fond memories with his music. Ollie Harmer has captured the nostalgia of sound that is unapologetically live & unforgiving, with a blatant sense of unadulterated musicianship that has Dixon Naceys’ creative signature all over it.
Something Over Me is warm and authentic, just like Russell. It’s also the very soul-enriching music that we need in our lives this summer to help us find some grounding after such a hard year.
