Band & Musician News - Tablefox singer embraces heritage on new track 'Battles'

Tablefox singer embraces heritage on new track 'Battles'

07 October 2020 - 0 Comments

On the 30th of October NZ Alt Rock band Tablefox release their new single Battles. It is the 4th single from the forthcoming album IV. Mastered by Ryan Smith (Greta Van Fleet, AC/DC) and recorded by Scott Seabright (Mumford & Sons. Six60, Passenger).

Battles follows on from the success of previous single Desire or Love which reached #3 on the Official NZ Rock Chart, #1 on the Bayrock Rock Countdown and # 10 on the KAOSFM Countdown. An emotional and intensely epic track that captures a thoroughly passionate performance from the band and touches on subjects close to singer Clinton Bell’s heart. Bell says the new single is about the relationship he has with his heritage.

“As a person with both European and Maori ties I would often feel uncomfortable in situations. When I was younger Maori were often portrayed in a negative way in the media, on the TV and around the dinner table. Often I would have to take sides and it was easier for me to conform. This is about my awakening to a culture with a rich positive history and my journey to embrace it.”
