Channeled release new track 'I Can’t Quite Put My Finger On It' this Friday, & announce release date for second album

13 October 2020 - 0 Comments

Channeled, the four-piece made up of three music teachers (Ben, Matt and Michelle) along with ex-pupil Branden, are proud to announce the anticipated sophomore album titled I Heard Penelope Sing which is set to release on the 11th of December 2020.

The album marks a shift in writing style and sound. This can be heard on the new track out 16th October 2020 named I Can’t Quite Put My Finger On It. This song was co-written by founding member Ben Ruegg and guitarist Matt Garratt. Musically and lyrically, it certainly has a different vibe than what is found on the debut album and this sets the scene for the remainder of the album which is 12 tracks in total.

Featuring as a backing vocalist on the track is the up and coming artist Dani who was also an ex-pupil of Ben Ruegg’s from Waiuku College. Her vocal is driven with power and emotion, something that works perfectly with the chorus of the new single.

The rest of the album showcases new sounds and ideas that Channeled have explored with many a track shifting genres that move outside of rock found on the debut. Songs like Is That Glass? and A Conversation With You provide listeners with another side of Channeled they probably weren’t aware of. There are other surprises that we will leave unnamed and for you to experience upon its release. However, we will say to expect the unexpected.

“I named this project Channeled because I feel that’s what songwriting is like. You kinda just get inspired at random times and you need to spend time channeling that into a song. These new songs felt like that more than ever. It was an incredible experience for all of the band to hear them come to life. We even questioned ourselves about if it was a Channeled sound. But we all agreed we love music and these songs just feel so good to us, and even more so when played live.”

With more live shows under their belt and hungry for people to experience their sound live, Channeled cannot wait for you to hear the new music and then to come along and rock out to it with them like you were back at high school.

I Heard Penelope Sing is out 11th December 2020 on all streaming services.
