It’s been just over 4 months since Adam Tukiri released his album Unless… Surely and with no shows or other releases since the album came out, there has been a bit of speculation if he will even release more music.
But today he releases new track Gabasu which is a collaboration with long-time friend and collaborator Hor. Adam and Hor have collaborated together on a range of other projects, particularly with the group they are both part of; Valleyside Boys. They released their first official project together, Harirū, in 2021.
Gabasu is the first track off their upcoming collaborative project Harirū 2.
Gabasu - Get A Bag And Shut Up
“The song is loosely written about how, in my view, a lot of rappers seem to have to be another version of themselves. Because generating profit for rapping in this country is quite difficult. So I am essentially just encouraging everyone to lie or do whatever they have to do to get it (the bag). It is also about people on the internet getting overly political without really having credible research. I originally wrote the song over a Jennifer Lopez beat”
Adam Tukiri is a rapper and producer from South Auckland, who created quite a name for himself under his previous moniker Dharmarat. There is just as much range in his discography as he has projects under his belt, having released 21 projects as Dharmarat, if you include his work with his group Valleyside Boys. Adam Tukiri is bringing the focus back to the music and letting it speak for itself.
Hor aka Hor Beats is a member of the group Valleyside Boys, alongside Adam and has been creating beats for artists for years.
He also DJs their live performances.
