New Zealand singer and songwriter Sylvee makes a powerful statement with her new single Slow – an epic love song, with a strong message on mental health.
“Slow is about the importance of talking about tough things with safe people. Knowing we don’t have to take on every challenge alone, especially if we don’t have the mental tools to do so” explains Sylvee aka Sarah Ryland, who wrote the song solo, and worked with collaborator Joel Zaia who takes production credit.
The track remains true to Sylvee’s signature sound of etherial vocals and speaks loudly to a continuing issue many people face without rescources.
Sylvee’s exquisite vocals and warm melodies exude raw emotion and intricately weave together a land- scape of poetic lyricism and production, which shifts effortlessly from delicate to soaring.
Hailing from Nelson; a city renowned for punching well above its weight when it comes to fostering musical talent (think Broods, Robinson), Sylvee’s journey in music has taken her from singing in the primary school choir and tinkering around at home on the piano, to recording in studios across the globe.
Sylvee released her debut EP Life On Mars in 2019, which she wrote and recorded between home in New Zealand and in London. She returned in the second half of 2020 with singles Champagne and Retrograde World (Simon Gooding) in 2021, paving the way for the release of Slow.
Leaving fans waiting in anticipation for the talented artist’s next move, Sylvee hints “follows in the footsteps of Champagne and Slow.”
