Bub’s brand new single Dreams - out today - is a sincere indie plea to the universe for new love. And it’s just a tiny taste of the magic still to come from the Tāmaki Makaurau-based indie-rockers as they gear up to hit the road and release their debut album.

Made with the support of NZ on Air, Dreams is a vulnerable, yet grunty, catchy as heck tune, with an opening synth buzz leading to shoegazey, lyrically raw and exposed verses and an epic, tongue ‘n cheek chorus that sticks in your head.
“It’s pretty much my heart right out there, raw and sore,” says Priya Sami, Bub’s lead singer and guitarist, who wrote the track. “We just want to create meaningful music for us, which is honest, so that other people can connect with it too.”
Dreams is the first track from Bub’s upcoming, highly-anticipated debut album and is all about “wanting to find love when you know relationships are hard and you have to compromise.”
It comes with a quintessential Kiwi video, featuring fishing and starring the band plus ‘friends of Bub’. “It’s like a strange fishing show -Priya loves fishing and wants to fish up dudes, and measure them with a Mary Poppins-esque measuring tape filled with red flags.”
“I had to skipper my cousin’s boat for the first time ever. It was high stress but thank you to Derek for video calling me and taking me through the steps. And thanks to Maraetai for the amazing weather.” adds Priya.
The release of Dreams makes way for new music from Bub, which will culminate with the release of their debut album in early 2023. In the meantime, keep your ears peeled for another new tune just around the corner and make sure to catch them on tour.
