E te tī, e te tā, anei te kōwhiringa hou nā te tokotoru nei, nā How Get!
Today, the Tāmaki punk trio How Get release their fourth EP, Ka Mutu. Released earlier in the month, Ko te reo te taikura was the "invigoratingly punchy" lead single from the EP which is currently sitting at #4 on the SRN chart and made Apple Music's New Music Daily and New in Indie playlists (Undertheradar.co.nz). Drawing on vocalist James' language learning journey, the song celebrates the perspective different languages bring and the joy of language revitalisation, over frantic verses and a crushing chorus. Ka Mutu will be the band's second EP entirely in Te Reo Māori; its release will be celebrated with four shows in Auckland, Palmerston North and Wellington.
Ka Mutu is a 3-track EP in the same vein as 2021's Te Waea Moana. Te Waea Moana reached high rotate on Student Radio, with "dynamite lead single and closing anthem" Te Tai Pari and "tightly wound explosion of spiky guitar / drums and uplifting melodies" Te Tai Timu reaching #2 on the SRN and #1 on 95bfm respectively (Undertheradar.co.nz).
Ka Mutu is available now on the usual platforms.
