Powerhouse pop rock five-piece The After has just returned to New Zealand following a massive tour of Asia, playing 14 shows across Japan, The Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore.
They've also brought home a brand new single, Where There's A Will, There's A Way, with a video shot in five different countries.
The song is is a rock ballad infused with pop notes and an anthemic chorus, and it was co-produced by The After's Andrew Featherstone and Grammy-nominated, ARIA-winning UK producer Steve James (Sex Pistols, Monty Python, Thin Lizzy, The Jam, Weta (Geographica), Paul Young, Cold Chisel, Screaming Jets).
Carwyn Henigan, Programme Director of KAOS FM says of Where There's A Will, There's A Way, "The After are masters of evolving energy...intelligent songwriting that, while sounding fresh for 2023, is also reminiscent of John Lennon, ELO and 10cc, with a sprinkle of Sgt. Pepper. Prepare to be uplifted!"
During their Asia Pacific tour, The After performed Where There's A Will, There's A Way on the Good Vibes show (True FM 92.3 and TV5 in Manila, Philippines). The After's bassist Andrew Featherstone says, "They're such a great team and it's definitely a fitting show name!" Watch their appearance here.
Another highlight was the band having the opportunity to record a version of Uhaw (Thirst) by Filipino indie rock band Dilaw; the song was the biggest hit in the country at the time. The band says, "During our tour through the Philippines we heard this lovely tune, and our good friend Harry Janaban helped us translate it from the Filipino/Tagalog language to English.
"We recorded this in our apartment in Manila with instruments we picked up from local stores that very same day. All writing credit to Dilaw, thank you for writing this beautiful song, we are moved and honoured to cover it!" The After's cover of Uhaw has hit a nerve, with views on combined platforms at 90k and growing. Watch The After's version of Uhaw here.
And just announced is the news that The After is now sponsored by Martin Audio – the main choice of the Glastonbury festival, and many major international touring artists.
The After is signed with the Universal Music Group, with the Asia UMG teams now working the new single to radio and television throughout the Asia region.
The band will be announcing a New Zealand tour for October/November shortly, watch this space.
