Tauranga based psychedelic post synth-punk solo artist, We Will Ride Fast, is delighted to present the music video for Evergreen, the latest DIY concoction from recently released album Army Of Invisible Zombies.
We Will Ride Fast, is a musical output of singer/multi-instrumentalist and multimedia artist Kyle Sattler (Frayden, Seedy Burners). WWRF’s genre-straddling style deploys fuzzy guitars/keys, pulsing new wavey electronics and often loping, goth-tinted grooves as an aural backdrop for Sattler's philosophical lyrical musings.
Evergreen is a song that reaches back to Aotearoa’s colonial past making reference to the confiscation of indigenous lands, and subsequent land wars. “With a hook on every corner the pig down the street made a land grab with a gun”, projecting and linking this forward to the subsequent multi generational, ever ballooning domestic property market and the protectionist attitude of those with enough subsequent privilege to hold and trade land. “You can have anything you want, just don’t take it from us, we're evergreen”. All of this content is woven over a tapestry of ‘appropriated’ (confiscated) screenshot visual media displayed as a faux news presentation, literally superimposed (in parts) over TVNZ mainstay Simon Dallow.
Army Of Invisible Zombies, is available digitally via the usual places and a bonus 10 track version can be found throughout Aotearoa at your favourite vinyl merchant.
