Sports Team have shaken up the universally beloved Trash Recital format for 2023 — making like a modern day Selwyn Toogood in It's In The Bag, where the bag is now the only option! For Trash Recital Season 3 special guests from throughout Aotearoa are invited to select a MYSTERY BAG and make musical magic from whatsoever they find within.

Our new episode stars Tāmaki Makaurau's sensational K M T P, the project of Keria Paterson (Te Arawa, Ngāti Raukawa and Ngāi Tahu), touring their forthcoming debut album With Love, K M T P nationwide this spring. Swinging by our Trash Zone with bandmates Zac Arnold (Sunreturn chief), Ali Burns, Maté Vella and Cameron McCurdy (appearing via phone), Paterson spilled the beans about K M T P’s humble origins, showed off the new record, and on the spot made up a joyfully percussive new version of SRN chart-topping single 2:45 (Getting Old). Their inaugural long player launches on 28th September via Sunreturn, available for preorder on vinyl LP, cassette and digitally HERE.

For each episode of Trash Recital we've invited some of our favourite Aotearoa artists into the UTR studios to perform one of their songs, re-created using everyday items selected from Sports Team's stockpile of recycled junk. Trash Recital not only provides a launchpad for stunning reimaginings of recent (and soon to be) classic tunes, but also the perfect opportunity for a chinwag with our local musical heroes.
