Today marks the start of a new chapter for Taupo-based duo
False Heights with the release of their newest offering
Inside Your Head – a track which showcases
their music in a way never seen before.
United by a mutual love for storytelling and their eclectic tastes in music, April Pirie (vocals/keys) and Ashley Pirie (drums/guitars/vocals) share an uncanny chemistry and great pop sensibilities as they continue to cement their place within

Enticing from the very first note,
Inside Your Head is Ashley’s first foray into lead vocals, shaking things up for their current and new fans alike. Packing a lot of punch, this addictive track embodies the distinct False Heights sound
while offering a glimpse into what the future holds for this adventurous band.
Inside Your Head was inspired by past relationships, bringing to life the desperate and frustrating feeling of “going insane” caused by trying to rationalise and understand the behaviour of yourself and those around you. Ashley explains, “The chord
progression for
Inside Your Head came about very early on and was the first thing I could actually settle on. The lyrics quite comically came about after watching myself and others trying to navigate our way through the minefield we call relationships
in our early 20's. I marvelled at how I would over analyse myself into a situation I knew was unhealthy for me, finding it in retrospect both hilarious and embarrassing at the same time.”
Co-produced, tracked and mixed by Evan Pope at Studio11b in Mt Maunganui, and mastered by Joshua Llewellyn of Downbeat Mastering,
Inside Your Head is accompanied by an equally impressive video, which was also released today.
