Grounded in folk traditions and honed over 20 years of professional experience, The Tom Irvine Band’s sound echoes the essence of legends like George Harrison and Mark Knopfler, while infusing a new and vibrant twist of heavier funk and rock.
Under The Wharf offers a dynamic collection of seven tracks, showcasing Irvine’s soulful guitar work and evocative songwriting.
With powerful chord progressions, funky hooks, and simple yet compelling melodies, each song on the album takes listeners on a journey through timeless themes of love and heartache.
From the anthemic Break In The Clouds, the groovy Slip N Slide, the heartfelt Love Gone Bad, featuring the smooth vocals of Steve Tofa, to the introspective God Only Knows and the vibrant Mood Ring, this album promises an unforgettable sonic experience that captures the essence of heartfelt storytelling and musical innovation.
Backed by an impressive lineup of musicians making up the Tom Irvine Band including bassist Matt Shanks, drummer Cole Goodley, guitarist Dylan Storey, and vocalists Jared Kahi and Steve Tofa, the album was recorded at Huntaway Sound Studios, under the guidance of producer Dylan Storey.
Fans of folky funk music will appreciate Irvine’s guitar pop, which infuses rootsy, blues-inspired melodies with a modern, polished edge.
To celebrate the album’s release, the Tom Irvine band will be performing a special one off album release show at Cupid Bar in Pt Chevalier Auckland, this coming Friday:
