THE DRAB DOO RIFFS –POSTCARDS FROM URANUS
The Drab Doo-Riffs are one of Auckland’s best live acts. Their sound is an electrifying mix of sci-fi surf punk and rock’n’roll and with their debut EP “Bury Me in Drab” (released last year) sold out they now release their second EP. After 2 years of gigging and leaving bars filled with danced-to-death bodies of rock’n’roll carnage the five piece release “Postcards From Uranus”. The Drab Doo-Riffs are MF Joyce (The Boxcar Guitars/The Demi Whores) on bass, Mikey Sperring (Don Julio and the Hispanic Mechanic/Mean Street) on drums, Lucy Stewart (The Vietnam War) on guitar, and Caoimhe Macfehin (Heart Attack Alley) and Karl Steven (Supergroove) on vocals and added extras.

SOLVENT – SUBJECT TO SHIFT
More than most, Jason Ammʼs work as Solvent embodies the original ethos of the oft-misused “synth-pop” tag: that is, pop music built lovingly, reverently, meticulously out of the buzz and hum of analogue synthesizers. Solventʼs newest full-length on Ghostly International—his first in nearly six years—is called “Subject to Shift”, and its title reflects the changing tone of Amm's music. On “Subject to Shift”, the “cute, happy robots” of 2004ʼs “Apples & Synthesizers” are few and far between and in their place is a mix of dystopian, acid-tinged futurism and bittersweet romantic ache.

THE VERMIN POETS – POETS OF ENGLAND
Top British garage psych pop The Vermin Poets release their debut album, “Poets of England”. The Vermin Poets are the self-discovered heirs to a long line of bards and natural philosophers whose number includes Reg Presley, Sky Saxon, Bo Diddley, D.H Laurence, William Shakespeare, Aristotle, Homer, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. In raising their songwriting art, the legendary punk rocker William Childish and Fire Dept front man Neil Hereward Palmer engaged in an alliance to pursue the thrice-fold aims of Happiness, Poetry and God.

ANARBOR – EYES & NINES
Seven years after their initiation, Anarbor is releasing their first full-length, “The Words You Don’t Swallow” on Hopeless Records. Armed with the familiar soulful pop-rock that defined their breakthrough EP, “Free Your Mind”, a year ago, the new record ups the ante with more confidence, wit and sheen. When you consider that Anarbor signed a record deal while still in high school, and recorded this LP at the ripe age of 19, it’s imperative to know these are artists who have still only begun to scratch the surface. A band who have grown up together not only in their band roles and as young adults, but have grown with their fans as well.
