New Zealand’s beloved progressive heavy metal band Pull Down The Sun celebrated a decade of electrifying performances and musical accomplishments on Friday, November 15, 2024, at their much anticipated 10th anniversary show. The sold out milestone event, held in their hometown of Whanganui, was a night to remember for fans as the band not only played their debut album Of Valleys and Mountains in its entirety, but also marked the occasion with an unforgettable on-stage tattoo moment.
A true performer in every sense of the word, founding member Jason Healey, knew he wanted to make this show a unique one - and recruited his friend Mat McRoy from Rotorua band INTHEIRIMAGE to help.
Along with Vocalist and Guitarist Koert Wegman and Drummer Stefan Bourke, Jason took the bold step of getting a potentially controversial tattoo mid-performance. During the song Utu, he had the tattoo done live on stage, turning an already intense musical experience into a striking visual moment. The tattoo itself was a bold gesture that captured a unique 'stickman' that Jason had spray painted on the road in his youth.
Jason's no stranger to on stage stunts, he's previously had a Beyblade battle on stage mid set, and is known for wearing his unique socks without shoes during every performance.
