NOUVELLE VAGUECOULEURS SUR PARIS

For their fourth album of brilliantly reimagined post-punk-pop, the French supergroup Nouvelle Vague has turned its sights away from the UK and US to instead look inward. The inspired result is a collaboration between two generations of chart heroes, with France’s top artists of today (such as Vanessa Paradis, Soko and Camille) covering the best of the country’s pop hits from the golden 1980s age. Who better to reintroduce this golden age of French music to the world than Nouvelle Vague.

POPSTRANGERSHAPPY ACCIDENTS EP

Auckland trio Popstrangers burst onto the live circuit early in 2009, and with their truly unique celebration of grunge, punk, and noise music won punters over wherever they went. Cut to now, and the band are more vital than ever before. With a tight new line-up the three are set and ready to release their sophomore E.P. “Happy Accidents”. Recorded in one day on July 26th at Mt Eden studio The Lab, the E.P. was then mixed by producer Thomas Healy in a lounge room in Epsom. A little mastering from the legend of the South - Dale Cotton - and “Happy Accidents” came into being.

ESKMOESKMO

As Welcome, Ninja Tune’s latest signing: the one and only Eskmo, AKA Brendan Angelides, a native of Connecticut now based in San Francisco. Embracing and exploring glitch, dubstep and R’n’B, and layering his own ethereal vocals into the dreamy mix, his eponymous debut album is a fine showcase for everything that has made Eskmo such a whispered-about talent. Eskmo’s won the patronage of fellow Ninja-artist, the legendary Amon Tobin, with whom he’s collaborated as Eskamon, while Flying Lotus hand-picked this kindred spirit to play his Brainfeeder Sessions.
