Two years after it raced to the top of the NZ charts and set off a remarkable journey for The Naked And Famous, their single Young Blood has been certified Gold in the US as it racks up 500,000 Stateside sales.
Young Blood has become an anthem on America's alternative rock airwaves as well as popping up on hit US television shows like Gossip Girls, games, and movies including Disney's Prom and the cult snowboard film, Art of Flight.
The song has been a true international success, adding Platinum sales in Australia (70,000) and New Zealand (15,000) and Gold certification in Canada (40,000) amongst its achievements.
Punching In A Dream, the group's second single from their album Passive Me Aggressive You, has also been certified Gold in New Zealand and Australia.
TNAF vocalist and guitarist Thom Powers called the international success of Young Blood "truly amazing and humbling".
The Naked and Famous have completed touring the album, playing their last shows in California at the weekend. After playing 250 shows and touring over 20 countries around the world since Young Blood's release, the group is now looking forward to beginning to write a new album.
Meanwhile Young Blood continues its own journey out into the world. After being remixed by artists as diverse as Chiddy Bang and TV On the Radio's Dave Sitek, and with covers recorded by UK starlets Jessie J and Birdy, its latest incarnation is a remix by superstar DJ Tiesto that is climbing club charts around the world.
The Naked and Famous currently showcase their own remix skills on M83's 'Reunion' single, available this month, but are most excited about a return to the studio to work on their own material after an exhausting but satisfying debut campaign.
