Ghetto Sunrise hail from the city streets of Auckland and play a bombastic fusion of reggae, ska, dubstep and electronica.
Ghetto Sunrise are set to release their debut EP One Drop Love on Friday the 28th of June 2013. The EP has been mastered by Mike Gibson, responsible for the many NZ urban albums including classic reggae records by The Black Seeds and Rhombus through to the killer grooves of the Native Sons.
Ghetto Sunrise have been compared to everyone from Sublime and Katchafire but feature heavy bass driven electronic sections reminiscent of early Salmonella Dub mashed together with the latest Dubstep from the UK.
Ghetto Sunrise are currently touring with NZ reggae heavy weights Three Houses Down and 1814 and have been mashing, smashing and crashing sound systems across the country.
The artwork for the album was designed by well known urban Maori artist Melanie Tahata. Melanie was chosen for her contemporary vision of Maori art and her very rock n roll stylised approach to her visual creations.
Ghetto Sunrise are supporting the release of the One Drop Love EP with a NZ headlining tour in August and are currently working with an Australian booking agent to tour Australia in late September.
