Band & Musician News - Kingston Release Debut Album 'Black & Bloom'

Kingston Release Debut Album 'Black & Bloom'

19 July 2013 - 0 Comments

Kingston. You might not have heard the name, but you’ve most definitely heard their music. From the energetic, upbeat theme of KFC’s current media campaign Good Feeling to the equally dynamic track You Want It that graces the Ford Kuga commercials of late, Kingston know how to write catchy power-pop anthems.

Their long awaited debut album, Black and Bloom is out today, filled with electric, guitar driven pop that really gets in. Vocalist, Dan Gibson has a distinctive voice and a powerful delivery that etches lyrics to memory.

“Kingston has always done what has come naturally” muses band member, Scott Cleary. “It took us a long time to come to terms with the fact we were pop writers in a pop band. Now we feel fulfilled in our Kingston brand of music. We love writing these songs because they are fun and positive and we have had such a great response from our fans”.

Kingston’s latest single Miss You packs a lot of punch with its pounding electric guitar, rolling drums and very catchy melody. Gibson’s voice is engaging as he delivers pining lyrics of lost love. This track is a tad melancholy, but heavy heartedness never overrides the exhilaration of a Kingston song.

Black & Bloom was recorded and mixed with US Producer Brandon Friesen across multiple studios in multiple countries, including Toronto, LA, Auckland and even a makeshift batch in Piha. The album was mastered in LA by Tom Baker at Precision Mastering (Beastie Boys, 30 Seconds To Mars).

Kingston is released by Aeroplane and distributed via DRMNZ and Rhythmethod.
