One of the most exciting rising hip-hop acts in New Zealand’s burgeoning scene, Blaze The Emperor, has just dropped the video for his new single, Before.

A beat-driven, free-flowing track, with ‘sharp as razor’ lyricism, Before serves as a social commentary on relationships in 2019. Written from both perspectives in the early stages of a relationship, it’s a reminder that there are always two sides to a story and that things aren’t always what they appear to be at first glance.
The song is accompanied by boujee-inspired video, dripping in luxury and opulence. Shot by AmmoNation's in-house videographer Connor Pritchard, and directed by Blaze the Emperor himself, the video was filmed at the Willowbrook Park private estate - a luxurious mansion over-looking rural Hamilton.
Blaze the Emperor started taking Aotearoa’s underground hip-hop scene by storm in 2011 as one of the founding members of the collective, Beneath The Hype.
Blaze then embarked on his solo career, pairing up with AmmoNation team member and renowned hip-hop artist, Raiza Biza.
Blaze spent the next two years touring New Zealand, Europe and China both as a solo act and as part of the AmmoNation collective.
After several singles/videos and a string of New Zealand shows and tours,Blaze released his first solo EP Western Heights in 2017, which debuted at #1 on the iTunes hip hop album charts and #11 in all genres.
Blaze the Emperor then followed that up with a tour of Europe, headlining shows in Germany, Italy, Amsterdam, Belgium and Paris with another tour of China shortly after that.
Now he’s back and about to change the game. The single Before will be available on all DSPs on Friday April 26.
