RE: Bring Back Guitar Solos!! Posted: Mon Jun 20, 2005 3:25 pm Keat, you have some great taste in music, Stevie Ray live at the el macambo is great, i also have the live in Austin Texas DVD, that's awesome also, i love the Hammond organ playing in the 89 stuff. I really love Stevie Ray's versions of Voodoo Child, he played it with such attack. Since i've been loving you and Mistreared are both absolute gems from Page and Blackmore too. |

stevie ray vaughan is amazing Posted: Mon Jun 20, 2005 10:24 pm yeah that '89 live in ausin texas is a great show, while in canada i hired a srv box set from the libary, and it had a dvd of the other tunes from that '89 show that arn't on the dvd. and i was blown away with his playing on those songs and wondered why they didn't put them on the full lenght dvd. i can't remember what song it was, but there's one where he breaks a guitar string and continues playing while his guitar tech come up on stage and replaces his guitar with another, all while he plays along not missing a beat. the guy is amazing. p.s. if any one knows of this srv box set and if it's available here in kiwi land, i'd love to know where i can get a hold of it cheers This message was edited by keat on Mon Jun 20, 2005 10:25 pm. |

RE: Bring Back Guitar Solos!! Posted: Wed Jun 22, 2005 11:32 am The Whitesnake album with Vai is "Slip Of The Tongue" it was one of my most influential albums i've owned, some real gems on there..Wings Of The Storm, Slip Of The Tongue, Judgement Day, Sailing Ships. Some very fine guitar playing by Steve and great vocals by Mr. Coverdale. What about the Coverdale Page album, have you heard that? |

RE: Bring Back Guitar Solos!! Posted: Sat Jun 25, 2005 9:52 am The Plant Page album was good because they were doing classic Zep songs, the Coverdale Page album was all new songs, and some really cool stuff, honestly if you're that much of a Page fan you should have it, Jimmy's solo on "Don't Leave Me This Way" is out and out classic Page. Of course it aint Led Zeppelin but with the lack of good music coming out today, i am always revisiting old stuff that i didn't really get into in the past, i'd suggest you do the same because compared to the shallow, try hard modern crap, it's great. |
