RE: Joe Satriani in the Naki! Posted: Mon Jun 2, 2008 1:24 pm yeah what of it Joe satriani in the flesh again other than on ytube but shyte what the who needs that baldheaded mofo to show us how to play, his is a genre that works for him and all those other pretend gat players. So whats wrong with our guitar players like Kemp Huriwaka, Dallas, Billy TK, Roy Jacobs, Karena Puhi fuck there are heaps of them. Oh I know why its because the pakeha's will not play our music nor will they give our music a chance its all white or nothing plus it is not that hard to string a lead break together anyone can do it ......... bring that satriani dick to wellington and we will show him how to play this show will be like that kiss, ozzie osbourne gig, full of old pakeha colonial musicians playing songs of superiority to an uninterested non existent audience except for muzz and his two dogs |

RE: Joe Satriani in the Naki! Posted: Mon Jun 2, 2008 4:26 pm Might want to get off your high horse there, these are our INTERNATIONAL acts! You have no idea on who else will be appearing because they are called "special guests". And how white is Vernon Reid dude???? And I'm Maori and LOVED Rock2WGTN, I was definitely not uninterested and I don't recall Gene Simmons colonising my land. This message was edited by g-taranaki official on Mon Jun 2, 2008 4:32 pm. |

RE: Joe Satriani in the Naki! Posted: Tue Jun 3, 2008 9:20 am re. geoffery karena Awesome post dude. How WRONG can you be!!!!?? People are going to these concerts to see international players - like the very un-Pakeha Vernon Reid!! By the way, I understand that the MAORI Kara Gordon is playing with his band too and will be jamming with Glenn Hughes. There are a lot of grateful kids going to get a huge deal out of this for their learning and potential careers. Get off your high horse man. and questioning Satriani's skills? REALLY????? Don't bring something ugly into a great event. It's about the music. |

I'm not knocking any of the guitarists you mentioned though, I'm mates with one of Billy TK's boys, and he's one VERY talented half-caste, who proably doesn't give a toss what race you are. I can't believe you've tried to make this racial. Don't give me this crap about pakeha's not playing "your" music when we've got crappy "urban" polynesian hip-hop raping my ears every time I turn on C4. Oh, by the way - Billy TK Junior toured with Satriani. This message was edited by K.I.N.G on Tue Jun 3, 2008 3:09 pm. This message was edited by K.I.N.G on Tue Jun 3, 2008 3:12 pm. |

RE: Joe Satriani in the Naki! Posted: Tue Jun 3, 2008 1:03 pm And while I'm at it... what the hell has Joe Satriani's bald head got to do with it? He's bald because he's middle-aged. Or is having no hair instantly a sign of being racist? Quote:full of old pakeha colonial musiciansColonial? How does being white make you colonial? |

RE: Joe Satriani in the Naki! Posted: Tue Jun 3, 2008 2:25 pm ...and I bet none of those guitarists on the day will be honouring the good ol' pakeha hero Jimi Hendrix!! Seriously - how did this warped viewpoint get into a discussion about MUSIC! |

RE: Joe Satriani in the Naki! Posted: Tue Jun 3, 2008 2:45 pm You could just about mouth off about ANY international act, just because it's not down with the Tangata Whenua. Reverse racism strikes again. |

Why oh why then, is Katchafire (a Maori Reggae group) one of my favourite bands? I'd be more concerned about hip-hop furthering negative polynesian stereotypes than the lack of support for maori guitarists |
