RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Mon Sep 15, 2008 3:08 pm Yeah I'm hearing rumbles of NZ gigs next year. BETTER BE CHCH THIS TIME I missed out in 1993 on account of the fact I was only 15 at the time and had no money, so had to wait until 1998 on the Pour Re-Touring me tour when they did Welly. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Mon Sep 15, 2008 3:54 pm Chch would be a phat place to host the Tallica boys! not sure if the stadium would be big enough to hold all the fans though, it was only just big enough for Disturbed on Friday night ( F*#ken sweet gig by the way!!!!!!). there would be a real good atmosphere if the gig was to be held in chch, not to mention a psychotic mosh pit . haha i was only 4 in '93 ! But there is no way that i am going to miss this one! lets hope that they come for their own concert and not big day out, cause that would rob us of the spectical that is a live Metallica gig!!!!!!! |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Mon Sep 15, 2008 4:55 pm They're a shadow of their former selves on stage now I reckon, but still it'd be great to see them again. Poor old Hetfield sings with NO grunt now in order to preserve his voice. I haven't heard a good live recording come from those guys since 1997 (B-sides to Mama Said - James is real drunk and is having a great time!) Still, my favourite band ever, I'm allowed to pick them to bits! |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Tue Sep 16, 2008 9:06 am yea you're right they arn't the metallica they used to be, yet they still manage to rock out some good music. their new album 'Death Magnetic' reminisins of the tallica of old with heavy rifs and spine tingling solos! plus lars finally starts to play the drums again, they way he used to. its obvious that they are being a bit causious with the way that they play these days. it would be bordering on murder if they attempt to play some of their old stuff such as some work from the justice album. hopfully they sort it out and get back to the tallica of old before they arrive here, because i've been waiting to see them live for as long as i can remember! if they put out anything like they did on the cunning stunts world tour then we will be in for some insane gigs |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Tue Sep 16, 2008 10:12 am Quote:plus lars finally starts to play the drums againI actually think he's gotten worse. His double-kick work is sloppy. The fast stuff you can hear his kick-drum getting messy and ahead of himself, and the rest of it is just un-inventive to me. James and Kirk are so tight on this album that it shows up Lars (like I've said before, Lars has openly admitted he's got no interest in drums anymore, he doesn't even play at home for fun). He's an "arranger" and businessman now. And really starting to look like Phil Collins Quote:if they put out anything like they did on the cunning stunts world tour then we will be in for some insane gigsThat setup was AWESEOME. That was the stage they used the same year they came to NZ, but in Welly/Aucks it was just a reload backdrop curtain and some pyro's... only about 4,000 punters came to the Wellington show, and 80% of the people I talked to over that day/evening were from either ChCh or Dunedin. When I saw them (front row, of course!) they played: So What Master of Puppets King Nothing (Includes an excerpt of 'The Outlaw Torn') Ain't My Bitch Sad But True Fuel The Memory Remains Bass/Guitar Doodle Nothing Else Matters Until It Sleeps For Whom the Bell Tolls Wherever I May Roam One Kill/Ride Medley Low Man's Lyric (Acoustic) The Four Horsemen (Acoustic) Motorbreath (Acoustic) Creeping Death Enter Sandman Battery Best night of my life. Ever. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Tue Sep 16, 2008 10:54 am gee king that setlist aint so hot, latley most of their set (bar death magnetic) has been black album or earlier, although i LOVE low mans lyrics. i must say death magnetic has grown on me so much. still think the best track is my apocalypse and worst one is cyanide. if they come i will travel anywere in NZ to see them. i still recon it will be at this rock2??? event but we will see. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Tue Sep 16, 2008 3:05 pm Nah I liked the Setlist... and since I like the Load albums, double bonus. (good solid hard rock songs... at least within their current technical boundaries too!). Stuff like King Nohting was just STOMPING live. Really pounding. I'm putting my $$$ on the rock2???? gig. *crosses fingers for ChCh* |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Wed Sep 17, 2008 12:19 am i really like load (actually better than black album) but reload, while having sevral good tracks just doesn't do it for me but i spose they were touring on that album so it's to be expected. also looking at their current setlists there is quite a lot from death magnetic. take this one for example from two nights ago: 01. That Was Just Your Life 02. The End Of The Line 03. The Thing That Should Not Be 04. Of Wolf And Man 05. One 06. Broken, Beat And Scarred 07. Cyanide 08. Frantic 09. Until It Sleeps 10. Wherever I May Roam 11. For Whom The Bell Tolls 12. The Day That Never Comes 13. Master Of Puppets 14. Blackened - - - - - - - - 15. Stone Cold Crazy 16. Jump In The Fire 17. Seek and Destroy most surprising is NO ENTER SANDMAN!! LOL. they need to remove cyanide and broken, beatn, scared and replace them with judas kiss and my apocalypse. i've always dislike until it sleeps a lot. i think they need one more off master and ride and add hero of the day and that setlist will be all good! |

Was cool how they started the gig with all the house lights on then went into it on the second song. I rememebr head like a hole getting told to F*k off after every song they played before metallica came on. |

Quote:I rememebr head like a hole getting told to F*k off after every song they played before metallica came on.Yeah, poor guys. They looked like they knew they were gonna get lynched when they came out but soldiered on regardless. Good band, but a bad choice of opener. |

RE: Metallica touring? Quote:Was cool how they started the gig with all the house lights on then went into it on the second song.oh maaaannnnnnnnnnnnn!!! i wana see them sooooo friggin bad!! sounds like the intro on the cunning stunts dvd. i will be the happiest dude in the world if i got to see my childhood icons live!! |

I think it's more because it's selling by the truckload more than anything else. Apparently little Lars has been crapping out during songs, and apologising to auciences That little twerp needs lessons, urgently. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Sun Sep 21, 2008 8:58 am About the terrible production (apparently the guitar hero version sounds better) http://blog.wired.com/music/2008/09/does-metallicas.html From the guy who mastered the album (in response to an email about the so very terrible "loud" mastering. Quote:I’m certainly sympathetic to your reaction, I get to slam my head against that brick wall every day. In this case the mixes were already brick walled before they arrived at my place. Suffice it to say I would never be pushed to overdrive things as far as they are here. Believe me I’m not proud to be associated with this one, and we can only hope that some good will come from this in some form of backlash against volume above all else. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Sun Sep 21, 2008 9:23 am yeah i've already read that 1. i still think despite the quality and awful drumming that it's an awsome album. |
