both bands were awsome, thought slipknot had a longer set, better sound quality, and a better stage show. MH still kicked ass

V.Kul - I can't wait to see them in Melbourne tomorrow nite ... Did anyone open for Machine head tho guys ??- there is an Aussie lead opening for Machinehead called - Sydonia..
Also want to know if they had the drum revolver (you know - where the stage comes up and the drum kit revolves around in the air )this time.. I want to get it on film.. I'm in the diamond pit so should be right under it...
- Stage show for Machinehead at the 'Black Crusade' last year rocked as it was Haloween and they all came out with these amazing freak masks on - Robb Flynn - had several layers and peeled them over song after song - was brillant...

new way home opened for MH. no revolving drum kit for us just clowns percusion kit went up and down and all around. but id bet that you guys will, clown said they are bringing the full show to ozz revolving kit. pyro and all. apparently its a total of 11 tons of equiptment that needs to be shipped so it makes sence that they wouldnt bring the whole thing to nz for one show. still a buisness right, its a shame but i don't blame them. gonna be a great show for ya! enjoy!!

oh yea was a sick night here aye....i thought the crowd could've gone a lot harder tho.. 10m back and hardly anyone was jumpin up and down! yea MH bass was really thump your heart type stuff actually wasn't too pleasant but Slipknots sound was good.. much better than the 2005 BDO anyway! also it did feel like they were crammed up on that trusts stadium stage..pyro would rock..hopefully next time!

just goes to show how much u dont appreciate ur blessings...i had to pay for my tikt (100buk) a return bus tikt hawera-auckland-hawera (130buk) THEN and ONLY THEN am im able to spend wot i gt leftova (which aint much considern i got no income at ths stage)

drunk...wow...u can do that anyday you want!

my mate missd out becoz he culdnt evn get up to auckland full stop and u drop a perfect oppurtunity to experiance an awesome event which alot of "out of towners" would have done literally anything to be there.

Shee-it, I've turned down free tix before - twice I coulda gone to Disturbed but staying home and clipping my nails sounded much better.

Went to Deicide free too but walked out due to Glen Benton's constant abuse of the crowd, and abusing the soundman for the tinny sound (after my friend heard the roadie back stage telling the sound guy "Glen's a sloppy bassist, turn him down in the mix so nobody notices"

thats really dissapointing. a free gig is a free gig. i saw chimaira/biohazard/korn free. and in fact im seeing pig destroyer for free this weekend. STOLKED! never pass up that kind of opertunity! EVER!!

it's not just a free gig.. it's SLIPKNOT!!!! pioneers of ultra violent ultra angry nu metal.. and you realise this when you listen to (sic), one of their first singles. still, not everyone can appreciate a good thing when they see it aye.

look i'm a big slipknot fan but i wouldn't say that they pioneered anything they just combined existing elements to create something slightly new, took slayers agression and combined it with korn/limp bizkits mainstream appeal and the mask thing aint new either (kiss,gwar,black metal in genral). to say they pioneered something is to say that they had done something totally new which in turn lead to a new style of music, i havn't seen many slipknot copycats. by the way mushroomhead were doing the same thing since 93 and mudvayne since 96 so you could say that they are following a trend and perfected it to a degree were they gained the most fame/recognition/success.

Honestly all Slipknot did was take 90's death metal, throw in some modern groove and fruity melodic vocal bits... um, that's it.

okay not pioneered as in a whole new genre but corey IMO is a creative genius... such as "me inside" where he goes from screaming to singing. he funked up death metal and put in a more accessible style along with the rest of the band; don't forget the extra percussion. when you see how many lyrics he puts into each song in some ways it's more rap cross nu metal. everyone's got their influences. starting a new genre is a bit overrated tho of course that's creativity in itself and some great things can come from that too

why listen to anything else when there's slipknot? hahaha

never said it was death metal, what i'm sayin' is he's taken elements from that genre and progressed it to a very energetic, melodic, yet ultra violent sound that is enoyable to a lot of people. just listen to their new single performed live first at the nz gig.. "dead memories".. gold
