Whenever I think of bad lyrics I have heard, this always springs to mind:

which rhymes perfectly with the next line:

Theres an Antagonist lyric which I always find stupid, I think its in a song called Hollywood "Your still a fucking cunt"

Doesnt seem like much but when you hear it in the song it is a horrible use of swearing!

Unless you know exactly where they're coming from, I'd steer clear of Tool.

As for the "Ain't My Bitch" lyrics, I'm not quite sure what Hetfield means, but the song is about an obsessed fan who would leave strange notes in his letterbox.... like leaving a 6 pack at his gate, with one missing, with a note saying "I used this one to wash the pills down"... that sorta stuff.

yeah, tool make their songs so vague that it allows anyone to put their own interpritation and meaning behind it. most of the time a tool song is about what you want it to be about rather than perhapse what it really is about. which is one reason that they are so good.

but i always have a little giggle to myself when i listen to "hooker with a penis"

Good lyrics, in my opinion, even if they're written with a certain meaning or story, connect with listeners MORE if it's open to interpretation - that way the listener has their own personal affinity with the song.

The beauty of Tool's music, IMO, is that their music is supposed to be a Tool, a tool for the listener to gain whatever they want from it. The Lateralus lyrics helped me through a rather rough patch - regardless of the actual intention of Maynard when he wrote them.

Their music is so engaging, it makes me wanna do stuff. I love working whilst listening to them, like it's stimulating neurons in my brain or something.

Tool's music is a Tool. They want you to take the feelings you get from their music, and become inspired, to want to do something positive.

king i couldn't agree with you more. tool have always been an important part of my insperation. they have been one of my favorate bands for years now. in my opinion lateralus is one of the best albums ever made and i still can't listen to the song "lateralus" without getting chills all over.

back to crappy lyrics. here we have a favorate of mine dio with holy diver:

Holy Diver is indeed bad.
If you have a chance, check also any of the songs from Temple of Shadows (2004?) by Angra. Never had I seen such an elaborate album, with excellent graphics and ultra professional finish but with such poor lyrics. Crusader stuff (not the rugby), visually fantastic, with plenty of quotes from the bible and medieval texts. But the actual lyrics are an excressence.
