Rising indie-pop talent Jaz Paterson releases her much anticipated debut EP Ache today.
The debut EP perfectly encapsulates the highs and lows of her early twenties. “Ache EP explores the loneliness of being a musician, a painful breakup, my journey with faith, sexual assault, and being afraid of growing up. This work is super vulnerable and I'm excited to share it,” says Jaz.
The body of work started to take shape under the guidance of SOLE Music Academy mentor Sacha Vee. “Jaz came to us with a beautiful singer-songwriter vibe heavily influenced by Brooke Fraser. Through our development programme we established a fresh direction using beats and gradually this new exciting sound started to emerge. She is an incredibly talented songwriter and we are very proud of what she has achieved to date and everything to come,” says Sacha Vee.
Will McGillivray, was entrusted with the production and with the help of NZ on Air the debut EP came to life. “Creating this EP has been a real journey in terms of production and developing the sound. I'm stoked that I've had support from Sole, my producer, and NZ on air, to push my sound from the 17 year old girl singing folk songs, to developing my art into something that is more alternative and electronic. I'm really looking forward to people connecting with what has been created," says Jaz.

I've been practising with my band to create a show that includes the songs from the EP, as well as some previous releases, and some unreleased tracks! I can't wait to share these songs live," says Jaz.
