Wellington-based art collective Admiral Albatross will be premiering their original music live at MOON (Newtown) on the 29th of October, Friday. Organized by Eastern Sound Collective, the show will also feature indie pop rockers Happy Two + Phil. Doors open at 8.30PM with tickets available at UndertheRadar or $10 cash at entry.
Admiral Albatross was founded in late 2019 with the spirit of the Bird - a philosophy of free, open and unbridled collaboration. Their ethos often means every project and album is different. Previously dabbling in surf-rock and synth-pop, 2022 marks their foray into alternative rock with S'OK. At MOON, the Bird will be performing songs from S'OK and its upcoming sister EP KO'S. They will also premiere an eclectic selection of tracks from their nex project Foooood.
Phil + Happy Two, formerly known as OnSweet, are an indie pop rock band with explosive power with crowd-pleasing melodies and relevant song topics. Hailing from all corners of Aotearoa, they decided to make a band together for the sole reason that Phil “accidentally” bowled over Ben, Alfie and Jack coming down the hill on a flamingo scooter, and all had to go to the nurses office getting patched up when they were talking about how conveniently they each played a different band instrument. The 4 members combine to make a melancholic yet bubbly, and powerful yet soft sound. Having played at Sanfran for Eyegum as their debut gig, the crowd went crazy for their catchy singalongs, tasteful groove, and their dynamic energy.
Eastern Sound Collective (ESC) is a network aimed at bringing musicians of Asian ethnic heritage together to build a supportive network and improve representation in the music industry. They promote Asian artists, host events, identify activities, and aim to be a voice for Asian artists in Aotearoa New Zealand.
