FODR share their debut EP Lives! and announce release shows in Tāmaki Makaurau and Pōneke in July.
FODR (pronounced fodder) is a project from Isaac McFarlane (guitar/vocals), Kieran Ormandy (bass) and Jamie Hannah (drums). A new band of old friends, FODR emerge with an excitement and curiosity to explore unfamiliar sonic landscapes.
Their first offering, Lives! was recorded live in a single night with Edward Castelow (Dictaphone Blues) at his ‘Mezzanine’ studio within The Lab. The 4 track EP is a showcase of furious simplicity with Hannah and Ormandy providing a robust foundation for McFarlane’s exploratory guitar work and irreverent social commentary.
“FODR was started in a converted office space in Avondale where we were able to make a racket every Saturday for about 6 months. Writing these songs had an open and collaborative vibe, we let our ideas build on themselves without being too strict about what sound was going to develop, we gave ourselves the freedom to take the songs as far as we possibly could before bringing them back to earth.”
Now split across the islands FODR is embracing the intuitive philosophy of quick writing, quick recording and quick releasing - producing and performing music in concentrated bursts and using music as a great excuse for the three friends to get together in one place and have some fun.
