Prolific in the underground music community, Start Today is no stranger to the average alternative concert goer. Putting on DIY all ages shows monthly since 2023, the music collective have helped re vitalise and grow all ages shows and music in te whanganui a tara.

As the turn of the quarter century rolls around, Start Today have come together to co-ordinate their biggest project yet Start Today Fest. Held on the 5th of April 2025, the one day all ages festival is a celebration of hardcore music and culture located at the iconic Newtown community centre.

The music festival just announced it’s blistering first lineup drop. Including Naarm heavyweights Horsepower who are hopping the ditch exclusively for the fest. Alongside the return of Te Whanganui a Tara’s metalcore outfit Severed Beliefs, the festival already boasts a once in a lifetime lineup with only half the bands being announced so far.
