McMorrissey’s Irish Pub on Vine St will once again host Battle O’ the Bands which kicks off on the 1st of September 2010.
Battle O’ the Bands, now in its third year is the ultimate opportunity for up and coming musicians to get beneficial exposure and pit themselves against their musical peers in a live play-off environment. The annual competition offers two categories of competition – Full Band and Solo/Duet. Entrants from each category will battle it out every Wednesday to make it through to the grand final!
This year the stakes are higher with some amazing prizes up for grabs including equipment from Metro Staging Services, up to $1000 worth of recording studio time from Big Door Studios, gig promotion and management from The Rock FM and Tripod Music & Management as well as travel vouchers from United Travel and music vouchers from Musicor.
McMorrissey’s owner and Battle O’ the Bands organiser Owen Sinclair says: “Momentum is definitely growing, each year the competition is bigger and better than the last and there is no doubt that this year the prizes will be highly coveted. “Our aim is togive Northland’s up and coming musicians a platform to showcase their talent and the opportunity to get noticed by the music industry and grow their own fan base. “Of course the locals will have a great time coming along each week to listen and support their favourite band or singer” Owen says.
Entries are now being accepted for both the Full Band and Solo/Duet categories and close on Friday 20th of August, 2010.
