OWL CITY AUGUST TOUR!

Owl City’s songs mix infectious pop melodies, lyrics about nature and young love, and synthesized instruments. FasterLouder

Chugg Entertainment is pleased to announce that Owl City, the indie-synth-pop sensation, is returning to Australia and New Zealand for a series of headline shows this August.  The highly anticipated “All Things Bright and Beautiful World Tour” will play in three of Australia’s capital cities; Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, as well as one show in Auckland, New Zealand.

Owl City is the most well known work of the super talented singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist also known as Adam Young, and has gained mainstream popularity with catchy tunes and experimental beats.

The 2011 tour starts in New Zealand with an All Ages show at the Auckland Town Hall on Friday 12th August.  Young and his band then play a show at The Tivoli in Brisbane on Monday 15th August before heading to Sydney for a show at The Metro on Tuesday 16th August.  The Australian tour closes with two special shows in Melbourne at Billboard The Venue on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th August.  Sydney and Brisbane shows are all ages; with the first Melbourne show open to an 18+ audience and the second being exclusively for under 18 Owl City fans.

Adam Young is living proof that dreams do come true…of course, with the help of the Internet.  The Minnesota-born artist suffered from insomnia and spent his days living in a dream world away from his hometown and mundane job.  Young utilized his free time to write beautiful poems that emulated his optimistic nature and idealistic world.  He jumpstarted his music career mixing tapes in his mom’s basement and streaming them onto the MySpace; the songs quickly went viral.

"Adam Young has stocked freezers at Hy-Vee, loaded packages for UPS, and built shipping containers for Coca-Cola. Somewhere along the way, he also became a rather unassuming musical sensation."- MTV

In 2009 Owl City’s Debut LP, “Ocean Eyes” reached either gold or platinum sales in nine countries: US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Singapore.  It is hard not to fall in love with Adam Young’s hit single, “Fireflies,” its catchy melodies and whimsical rhythms encapsulate the audience from the first verse.  Fireflies gained an immense amount of success both at home and abroad, becoming number one in 24 countries.  In 2009 the song earned the number one spot in on Billboard’s Top 100 and continues to be a popular broadcast worldwide.

Following this huge debut success, Owl City’s highly anticipated new album, “All Things Bright and Beautiful” is set for release on June 17th.  This album showcases a new side of Adam Young’s musical talent and instrumental abilities.

Come experience Owl City’s incredible sound this August.

Tickets for all shows are on sale 9am Thursday 12th May.
