Wellingtonians can relax this year as New Zealand's largest independent radio station, Wellington's RadioActive.fm proudly announces the revival of One Love after the annual reggae, roots celebration on Waitangi Day temporarily departed from the Wellington calendar last year.
One Love rises again in a different format for this year as the event goes urban and into the new location of the Foxglove Bar, Kitchen & Ballroom on the Wellington waterfront. Wellingtonians will also be pleased to note that this years event will have no cover charge. (Yes that's right - FREE ENTRY ALL DAY!)
From noon on the 6th of February RadioActive.fm will be celebrating One Love, keeping the same reggae vibration the day is associated with and adding a second zone to accommodate the musical rabbit warren that is our on air sound with a long list of local Djs with more special guests to be announced!
Station manager, Dave Gibbons, who has run One Love annually at the Haitaitai Velodrome from 2004 through to 2010 is glad to see it return.
“We're stoked to be bringing back One Love in a new location for this year, whilst keeping the good vibes the city has come to expect from the day. Wellington needs to have a free, community based event and RadioActive will be happy to put on a free party for the city in recognition of Waitangi Day and Bob Marley's birthday. So come celebrate our national day and have a cracking time in the sunshine.”
