One of New Zealand’s most formidable Hip Hop talents PNC is celebrating the recent release his new street album Under The Influence with an exclusive show at Auckland’s 1885 on Friday 18 May.
PNC will be performing the critically acclaimed album in its entirety on the night with support from special guests including Fire & Ice, Onny Kaulima and People of Paris.
From an idea that spawned from an old school mix-tape concept, PNC and up and coming producer Matt Miller included sample mash-ups on Under The Influence from pop chart topper’s Gotye, Justin Bieber and Adele, and chose contributing artists like Midnight Youth’s Jeremy Redmore alongside more likely collaborators such as David Dallas, Pieter T, and Awa (Nesian Mystik).
Under The Influence was made available for free download from PNC’s official website http://www.pncmusic.co.nz/ on March 30th to rave reviews:
“Smothered in dreamy soundscapes, slurred pop samples and soulful grooves, Under the Influence shows the Palmerston North rapper has matured into a consistentlyengaging presence with his best record yet.” - * * * * - NZ Herald
“Producer Matt Miller is a real find – melodic as hell while contorting his samples viciously…an approach all his own that marriesbeautifully with PNC’s lyrics, which can turn from dazzling brags to curdled, morose venom in a heartbeat.” - 9/10 – Volume Magazine
