Wellington musicians Supermodel are teaming up with Christchurch rockers Sleeping Dogs once again, in a main centre NZ tour this June and July - before they set off on their World Tour which starts in Europe this September.
They have already played at a packed Dux Live in Christchurch on Friday 22 June, showcasing brand new material, and they're set to play spectacular Auckland and Wellington shows, which will be filmed for a Live DVD release.
Pop-rock quartet Supermodel released their highly anticipated UK-produced debut album To the Mountains last year with the NZ Herald calling it a “mover and shaker of a release”. The album topped the iTunes charts (rock category) on the first day of release, entered the IMNZ charts at number 4, and made The Official RIANZ Top 40 Album Chart.
Supermodel ‘s music features tight vocal harmonies that meld perfectly with concise and catchy rock arrangements and beautiful sing-along choruses influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Queen, Muse and The Strokes. They are a brilliant live act that have toured extensively and performed shows such as Rhythm 'n Vines, Home-grown and the historic 100 Club in London.
Sleeping Dogs have just completed their epic second album which was recorded at York St Studio in Auckland and mixed at Modern World Studios in the UK by respected producer Greg Haver with mixing guru Clint Murphy - the same crew responsible for the group’s huge classic rock debut album, Myth Reducer.
Sleeping Dogs is the creation of Thomas Reid; a mad, classically trained pianist and self-confessed Bowie addict. Their songs have been described as “unavoidable, deep and unapologetic”, “extravagant, big, epic and over-the-top”They are a must see for fans of epic rock music.
