CSS RETURN TO NEW ZEALAND
THURSDAY 7 NOVEMBER
POWERSTATION - AUCKLAND
Brazilian dance-punk four-piece CSS make a welcome return to NZ in November following their now-legendary sold out rowdy-as-hell shows of 2007 and 2008 and a stellar turn at 2011's Big Day Out.
CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy or 'I'm so tired of being sexy' - a Beyonce quote - for the uninitiated) are now sporting an all-female line-up since the departure of founding member Adriano Cintra. The band released their fourth album Planta last month, recorded in Los Angeles and helmed by producer-of-the-moment Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio). Led by the irrepressible diva Lovefoxxx, the album is another electro-pop confection that includes a duet with Gossip's Beth Ditto and features songs co-written with Tim Armstrong of Rancid.
Formed in Sao Paulo in 2003, their 2005 debut captured the tenor of the times thanks to hook-laden, irony heavy tracks like 'Meeting Paris Hilton', 'Music Is My Hot Hot Sex' and instant ear-worm 'Let's Make Love and Listen to Death from Above'. Always a tumultuous live prospect, they always come to party and their Powerstation show in November will certainly be no exception.
