Now with an impressive 8 stages and over 60 acts Jim Beam Homegrown is set to create history. After the massive first announcement and mad rush on early bird tickets a further 25 acts have been added to a line-up that will see the most Kiwi music ever assembled in one place at one time.
On February 15th 2014 the entire Wellington waterfront will come to life with Homegrown’s most diverse line-up to date; including award-winners, exclusive collaborations, old favourites and a wealth of rising talent. There really is something for everyone with an amazing line-up, two new stages, new layouts, more free to the public entertainment and a wider range of food, beverage and VIP options.
This year the Dub and Roots stage will open up more grass and hospitality areas to accommodate a truly epic line-up. Crowd favourites Six60, Fat Freddy’s Drop, The Black Seeds and Ladi6 will be joined by Katchafire, Sons of Zion, Sunshine Soundsystem and DJ Sir-Vere.
The Rock stage has a hard edge to it with Blacklistt fresh off their new album release alongside Devilskin, a resurgent Head Like A Hole, Villainy and Fire at Will. There is also a classic run with The Feelers, OpShop and Gin Wigmore making her Homegrown debut.
The Red Bull Sound Lab’s line-up reads like a festival in it’s own right. Where else can you find collaborations like Tiki Taane teaming up with Jayson Norris, The Black Seed’s frontman Barnaby Weir with his Flash Harry All-star Jam; Thomas Oliver and Louis Baker with guest performances from Iva Lankum, Tiki and River Run Wild. Rock also gets a decent look-in via Jon Toogood and The Adults, Cairo Knife Fight and the raw and unrivaled power of Beastwars. DJ Redbird Jr and Red Bull 3style champion DJ Spell will hold it down throughout the day and the Deceptikonz reunite to finish off the night in style with a heavy dose of hip hop.
Long before the Deceptikonz grace the stage, the neigbouring Pop and RnB stage will be heaving with a veritable feast of Aotearoa hip hop and cross-over pop. Including an exclusive reforming of Nesian Mystik for their very last show on NZ soil. Alongside P-Money, Smashproof, Savage, @Peace, Swiss, Donnell & Brownhill, Awa, PNC & Pieter T, Dane Rumble, Jupiter Project and DJ Marek.
The Lipton Ice Tea Electronic stage delivers a mix of new and old with first time appearances from PleasePlease, Aroha and Misfits of Zion. Dick Johnson & P-Money team up for a much anticipated DJ battle; State of Mind ft. MC Woody, The Upbeats and Optimus Gryme with MC Tiki will lock in the hours of darkness with the best drum and bass and dubstep on offer.
A new inclusion this year is the free to the public Locally Sourced stage in Frank Kitts Park. The impressive collection of local talent has grown to include Benny Tipene, The Digg, Paddy Fred, Jesse Sheehan, Eb and Sparrow, Phoebe Hurst, Totems and Vanessa Stacey. There are plenty of gems here and your day will be better for checking them out.
The Lagoon offers a gourmet food and hospitality hub with more free entertainment including the revamped Urban stage complete with breakdancing, graffiti art, DJ battles and also the new Buskers stage showcasing a selection of our internationally acclaimed buskers.
