Funk Blaster, dropping on the 21st of August 2020 is the leading single from The Vibes' fiery new album Saucery.
Funk Blaster is a fat, funk filled jam born from the rawness of the rehearsal room it has the ability to hook even the weary soul with its riff filled groove.
Breaking out of the COVID lockdown The Vibes & fans can rejoice with a funk rock track drawing inspiration from bands such as The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, James Brown & Cream. “Funk Blaster originated from a jam on the eve of a tour opening up for national heavyweights I Am Giant” comments lead singer Brendon Thomas, “It is an excited funk filled tune written raw in the chaos of a practice room”.
The Vibes recently performed and recorded the song live as part of the Creative New Zealand funded initiative ‘Live Vibes’ which was streamed to nearly 20,000 Facebook, Instagram and YouTube users.
Recorded at Depot Studios in Auckland & Engineered by Morgan Allen (Hot Knives, Head Like A Hole). Mastered at Studios 301 in Sydney by Leon Zervos (Muse, Rihanna, Maroon 5).
Funk Blaster fires an inherent drive to be part of the freedom in funk. The Vibes recently opened for Australian heavyweight Wolfmother alongside Devilskin in Palmerston North off the back of their last single release Real World.
