Music News - Jessica Leigh Releases 'Sing Along'

Emerging kiwi pop princess Jessica Leigh is unveiling her second single Sing Along from her forthcoming November EP 17.
After writing the song on her bedroom floor, Leigh enlisted the help of producer/sound engineer Jules Evans (notable collaborations: Freya Ridings, Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood) to bring the track to life. The collaboration fused Leigh’s contemporary pop notions with Evans’ impeccable old school flair, taking Sing Along from a simple, acoustic guitar and vocal track to the driving force that it is today.
The track is reminiscent of 80's pop, with iconic synths, an impossibly catchy hook and a steady 4 on the floor rhythm. However, Leigh’s lyrics and vocal delivery add a contemporary edge. The verses have been stripped right back sonically to emphasise the story that their lyrics contain, and to ensure the choruses pop with colour when their rich, full bodied force is released.
Leigh says Sing Along is about “the beginning of a relationship; the fostering of feelings and wondering if the other person feels the same.”At the climax of the chorus before the hook, Leigh sings “when I put Nights In White Satin on I hope that you’ll sing along” - cleverly letting her feelings be known through a reference to the climax of “I love you’s” in the iconic Moody Blues’ song.
Jessica Leigh will be releasing her first music video to promote the track.She is working hard to build traction in New Zealand before hopefully venturing out on a summer tour of the country to promote her debut EP.
