With dust still settling on the loss of My Two Cents and Bareknuckle Brawl, another major genre band have decided that enough is enough.
Christchurch's biggest punk band, Molly Says Go, have called it quits. Bassist James Sutherland is now moving to England and drummer Nigel Coursey is forming a new musical partnership with his girlfriend.
Remaining members Toby Retallick and Jason Alexander may be planning a new band, but nothing is confirmed yet.
Auckland ska/punkers Skivvy have also declared that their band has run its course. Citing the traditional 'personal differences', the band has broken up after a variety of line-up changes since making a big impact at the Punk As 1st birthday show in November last year.
In other news, the wackiest band in the South Island, Clowndog, now have a new bassist. Founding member Sherbert has left after 5 years, and the band has introduced new bass player 'Sniffter'. The band are aiming at taking the three-piece to Invercargill, Dunedin, Wanaka, Christchurch, Nelson and Wellington in mid to late July with 'the last big push' of the band's 'The Cantankerous Mainstream' EP before they begin recording their first full-length album.
The WBC are also looking for a new guitarist. If you think you fit the bill and would like to audition for the band, drop them a line at [email protected] and please enclose the following:
