Indie rock band Sandtrap have released their long awaited debut single Six Feet Down and unleashed their talent at the 2020 Smokefree Rockquest.
After seven strong years together, the band from Rangitoto College hasn't let the challenges of 2020 slow them down. Sandtrap went on to finish third overall at the 2020 Smokefree Rockquest after winning the North Shore Regional competition early this year. The band’s front man, Kainoa Ogilvie, also took out the coveted Best Vocals award on the night.

Their technical brilliance and diverse original music truly shines on their debut single Six Feet Down which was described by Radio13 reviewer Clare Martin as “a winner” after hearing the band perform.
Now that Rockquest is over, the band’s focus shifts towards recording and releasing new music and performing live over summer including a show at Leigh Sawmill on January 7. Stay tuned for new music arriving very soon.
So far the band has played gigs in local pubs Pepitos and The Hub, along with appearances at Relay for Life, The Apollo Night, Stand Up Stand Out and private parties.
Kainoa Ogilvie (vocals/guitar/keyboard), Luke Bennett (guitar), Jimi Terei (drums) and Luca Keltie (bass) are influenced by the likes of Radiohead, Muse, Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes.
