Help is on the way for people with art addiction issues, with the availability of a specialised treatment service offering widespread access to affordable services.
The Fringe Addict Card, offered by Fringe 07 is designed to ease the financial burden for people addicted to seeing as many Fringe 07 events as possible. It is now available from the outlets listed below and anyone can purchase one.
“While many people can get through the Fringe Festival season without too many problems, there are some people for which Fringe becomes a compulsion,” said Fringe 07 director Karen Blyth.
“This card is aimed at minimising the financial burden for Fringe Addicts, ensuring that they can see as many shows as they want for a reduced rate.”
For an initial cost of $10, the Fringe Addict card makes the price of most Fringe shows only $10 – often a saving of $5 per show. In addition, Fringe Addict cards provide discounts to many essential services and stores in Wellington.
“The Fringe Festival recognises that Fringe Addicts have needs, not only for great entertainment and cutting edge creativity, but also to shop at the best places and to wine and dine at the finest establishments,” said Ms Blyth.
“We’re very pleased to provide treatment for Fringe Addicts and ensure that the Fringe experience is the safest and most enjoyable one possible,” she said.
Outlets and venues providing Fringe Addict discounts include: The Mighty Mighty, Rex Royale, Carter Observatory, Real Groovy, FIN Clothing, Homestead Health, Lavage, The PIT Bar, Crepes A Go Go, Hunters and Collectors, Dorothy Patisserie, Ed’s Juice Bar, NZ Sea Adventures, Arty Bees Books, Frutti Clothing, The San Francisco Bathhouse, Ernesto, Bluenote Bar, Trade Aid, The Wellington Performing Arts Centre and the Southern Cross Bar. And don’t forget, discounts on ticket prices to all 98 Fringe 07 productions.
Fringe Addict cards are available from the Fringe Offices at the Wellington Arts Centre, BATS Theatre on Kent Terrace and The Mighty Mighty at 104 Cuba Mall.
