Bring Your Body is a fresh blast of catchy, country/pop, with a disco groove, which Abby wrote after heading into the studio feeling energetic and ready to take on the world. “I wanted to make a fun, flirty song that I would enjoy playing live. I wanted it to be groovy, with a country-meets-disco vibe,” she says.
All about being attracted to someone but having no expectations, Bring Your Body marks the beginning of a new chapter in Abby’s journey in music. “This year is about confidence. It’s about embracing all my qualities and all my flaws and just rolling with it. It’s about allowing myself to feel sexy, while staying true to who I am.
Abby adds that Bring Your Body is the perfect taste of what’s to come from her - musically and as a female artist - in 2021.
It’s a sentiment that Abby has carried through to the fun-filled video, which accompanies the song. “I wanted to get my fans and friends up; having a boogie,” she says. “I used to roller skate as a kid and when I listened back to the demo for the first time, I instantly knew it was the perfect time to bring the skates back. In my personal time, I love spending time with friends and eating and drinking wine, so the part of the video where I bump into the girls, was a snippet of what real time with the girls’ is like in my world.”
No stranger to the music industry, Abby first started turning heads when she appeared on The X Factor New Zealand in her late teens - becoming one half of the country duo Mae Valley. The duo enjoyed success on both sides of the Tasman, opening for the likes of Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban and also scoring a #1 single on the TMN Country Hot 50 in Australia with their song ‘Brightside’.
Now based in Sydney, Abby’s solo career is going from strength-to-strength. With more than a million streams on Spotify, with songs such as Kiss Me Into Monday and Cooler Than Me, she continues to shine and Bring Your Body is no exception.
