New to Community Radio Hamilton’s lineup of specialist music shows ‘The Zoolu Metal Show’, starting Thursday, 1 March (10.30pm till midnight), is a hard rock and metal show with a mission.
Show host Tina Henderson is a passionate and long-time advocate for the NZ metal scene. “What drives me most is the
noticeable lack of airtime and financial support for this genre,” she explains.
Featuring a strong focus on NZ music, The Zoolu Metal Show is “not one for the faint hearted,” profiling music not often heard on daytime commercial radio, along with a weekly must-have feature album, requests, and demos from up and coming bands.
Well-connected within the metal music community, Tina also promises to keep her ‘victims’ up to date with the latest gigs and news, and throw in plenty of giveaways including concert tickets, music, and merchandise.
Through The Zoolu Metal Show Tina wants to encourage more support for the often “pigeon holed” styles that make up the
diverse sound of NZ metal, including the introduction of a Metal category at the NZ Music Awards.
With a range of specialist music shows covering genres from the traditional to the underground, Community Radio Hamilton’s unique brand of Access radio delivers more than just music.
With support from NZOA, the station is one of eleven Access radio stations in NZ, and presents 100+ radio shows every week ‘by, for, and about’ the community, covering a wide range of interests including politics, health and disability issues, and ethnic affairs. All of Community Radio Hamilton’s 150 broadcasters are volunteers.
