Music News - Tempo 38 split CD release with Australian band Provoke

Tempo 38 split CD release with Australian band Provoke

27 February 2007 - 0 Comments

The concept was simple and in true ANZAC spirit. Bring together two hard working underrated punk hardcore bands, one from Australia and one from New Zealand, record a bunch of songs and release an awesome split CD with the backing of two independent punk record labels.

Introducing Provoke from Brisbane, Australia, and Tempo 38 from Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.

Since the bands beginnings in 2000, New Zealand punk rock band Tempo 38 have been blending punk, hardcore and heavy rock into a sound that is distinctly Tempo 38. The band have released 2 EP's 'Our World Today' in 2001, and 'Break With Reality' in 2002, along with the single 'Con' in 2004 which was a student radio hit and saw the video receive significant airplay on New Zealand music television. With the release of the 'Brothers In Battle' Tempo 38 will play CD release tours (with Provoke) both in Australia and New Zealand, along with releasing a video for 'Septic Proof' to coincide with the split launch.

Provoke are a straight up, in your face, no bullshit hardcore band. Formed in early 2005, they locally released their self-titled EP in 2006, which was also licensed and released in South Africa by Give & Take Records. Provoke's approach to music is to cut the shit and get down to business, which has seen them share the stage in support of hardcore heavyweights Mindsnare, Most Precious Blood, Stronghold and local Brisbane legends Against and Mouthguard. With a sound that has been compared to New York style hardcore, fans of Madball, Agnostic Front, Skarhead, Cro-Mags and Sick Of It All will love what they hear.

So here you have 10 awesome songs from two hard working, independent punk bands released in two countries by two hard working independent punk record labels… see you in the pit!
