18-year old Christchurch-based artist and producer KEI (Keira Jonkers), who recently starred on TVNZ’s NZ Popstars has released her second single Good Old Days. This follows her debut single Working For The Devil which she performed on the show to secure a Top 12 spot in the highly viewed TV show.
Funky bass lines, synths and old school piano lay the foundation of the track as KEI delivers a sassy reminiscent view on the ‘good old days’ making references to Weetbix cards, smiggle pens, and regretting getting old. “The older I get the more I realise how good I had it as a kid”, says KEI. Far from old and fresh out of school, Keira has wasted no time releasing her second single.
When asked about how the track came together KEI commented, “working on Good Old Days has been a wild ride! I’ve really enjoyed pulling it to pieces, sticking to my own funk roots and perfecting it to make sure I can take my listeners somewhere.” The single was produced with Christchurch-based producer and artist Wulfie (Tim Heeringa).
The single is astutely being released on day she opens for NZ’s new sweetheart Paige and the weekend she headlines Christchurch City Council Go Live Festival playing alongside artists such as Ashy, Jed Parsons, There’s A Tuesday and Jason Kerrison.
