Heavy rock/alt-metal band East York have released their latest single To Kill The Sun, ahead of their debut EP Origins out January 21, 2022.

Packed with heavy grooves and a dance floor filler chorus, the track carries an uplifting message of holding onto courage amongst life’s turmoil.
“To Kill The Sun is about summoning the strength of character in the face of loss and trial”, says East York vocalist Tarquin Keys. “It’s about knowing and backing oneself when it seems like your current world is collapsing.”
Written with the live show in mind, the track has an infectious energy that will see audiences across Aotearoa unable to stop dancing at the upcoming East York tour in 2022.
“As with all East York songs, To Kill The Sun certainly has the bounce we were reaching for and a middle-8 breakdown that will be pure mosh-pit mayhem", says East York guitarist/producer Daz Coppins.
With previous singles Outsiders, Circus and Damned Anthem already released from their debut EP Origins, New Zealand will get the chance to see East York perform the EP live in February 2022, with dates scheduled for Wellington, Napier, Tauranga and Auckland.
The upcoming tour will see the band return to play on home soil, with two members hailing from the Bay of Plenty (Daz Coppins, Tarquin Keys) and one from Palmerston North (Zane Rosanoski). The band now split their time between Aotearoa and Australia, with members Tarquin Keys, Zane Rosanoski and Eric Boucher (originally from Toronto, Canada) now based in Melbourne; and Daz Coppins residing in Hawkes Bay.
When it comes to listening to today's release and preparing for the upcoming tour, East York say “Turn it UP! In your car, in your headphones...it was produced to play loud!”
To Kill The Sun is available worldwide now.
