To help celebrate New Zealand music month Pulp Magazine’s latest issue has a CD of original kiwi music on its cover.
The Pulp 'FULL SPECTRUM' CD has 14 tracks from independent record labels from all around New Zealand, covering a broad range of electronic music genres, from house to hip hop and dub to drum ‘n’ bass.
Pulp’s contribution to New Zealand music month is in support of the grass roots of local music – small independent record labels that are new on the scene, but are responsible for releasing unique music and giving talented up and coming local musicians a break – just like pulp magazine does with it’s writers and photographers.
Many of the 14 tracks on the CD have never before been released, while some are from upcoming albums and others were previously only available on vinyl.
As a package the Pulp 'FULL SPECTRUM' CD gives a great taste of a new Kiwi sound – from Christchurch drum n bass, to Wellington dub and Auckland house music – that’s why we called it 'FULL SPECTRUM'.
Inside the magazine there is also a major feature called “Local Heroes” in
support of the seven independent labels who have contributed tracks to the CD. Each of the labels talk about their enthusiasm for NZ music and discuss the ups and downs of running an independent record label. The labels featured are Round Trip Mars, Capitalrecordings, Lovefunk, Fabel Music, Dirty, Dawn Raid and Cyanide Recordings.
The Pulp “FULL SPECTRUM” magazine and CD will be released on May 10.
