deepState is the musical project of Jessica Morgan (she/her), a musician and songwriter based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Her music is a journey of electronic experimentation, through House, Electronica, Downtempo, Trip-Hop and Witch House.

deepState's new EP MMXXI The Remixes, is set for release on June 17 via Sunreturn. The EP will feature remixes, edits and reworks from Dbldbl, Van Staden & Böhm, Sonya Waters, Trapjaw Kelpie, Baby Zionov, Liam K Swiggs and Grecco Romank.

Today deepState shares Watching The Sky (Liam K. Swiggs Remix), where the charismatic leader of Ōtautahi's Big Fresh Collective takes otherworldly original and reworks it into a 160bpm breakbeat track.

“I was suuuper into Watching The Sky" says Swiggs, "so with that in mind I really wanted to make a remix that captured the original emotion and elements of the song with a bit of a drawn out 90’s BFC 160 twist.”

“It's something that you can get entranced in, with stare out the window and day dream kinda feels. I totally enjoyed the mahi on this one, it's such a cool number from Jess to rework and while I’ll admit it’s a bit of a longburner but you know that’s how we do it in Redwood”

Reflecting on the remix Morgan says "Liam kept the vibe of Watching the Sky using the lush pads and atmospheres from the original track and blending it with the 160 breakbeat style he's known for. The two styles work so well together, its a truly hypnotising remix!r!"
